4 REASONS TO LEARN SPANISH THAT BREAKS YOUR LEARNING FEARS

Updated: Jan 22, 2022

I usually like to talk about all the many wonderful reasons there are to learn Spanish.

However, I am also familiar with the reasons people give for not learning Spanish as

well! Here are some:

1. I’M AFRAID OF LEARNING SOMETHING NEW

Some people experience anxiety trying new things and it’s natural to be scared of

speaking a foreign language. I always take the time to find out underlying issues and help my clients to discover how to stop being afraid to learn something new. As well as having an RSA Diploma in Teaching Modern Languages, I am also a Life Coach with a PGC in Psychological Trauma. All these qualifications help me to be more than just a Spanish teacher based in Surrey.

2. I DON’T LIKE EXAMS

If you are learning Spanish as a hobby you are lucky that you don’t need to take exams. Unfortunately for the Spanish GCSE, Alevel and University students, they do not get a choice! I am an Accredited Instituto Cervantes Examiner for DELE Spanish exams, so I know great exam strategies and how to stop anxiety to raise and emphasise that learning Spanish is more than just about exams. I also have an enhanced Police DBS which allows me to work with children and vulnerable people. I am very familiar with Edexcel, AQA, Cambridge and other British Exam boards.

3. SPANISH SPEAKERS TALK TOO FAST

This is a valid reason - even for me, some Spanish people speak the language too fast! I am Peruvian born and a British Citizen for more than 25 years. I believe that Peruvian Spanish is the slowest and most clearly spoken Spanish in Latin America. In addition, I am bilingual in language and culture in Spanish (from Spain and Latin America) and English (from UK). You will not have to worry about not understanding me! See my clients references about how the teaching and mentoring they received helped them with their studies.

4. THERE’S NOBODY TO PRACTICE SPANISH WITH

Everybody knows that, when learning a language, it is important to be able to practice it in between lessons. For this reason I run A fun social club for adults where people can practice their Spanish conversation with a glass of wine and learn more about Spanish and Latin American culture. I also manage 2 Facebook Groups - where you can have conversations with native Spanish and Latin American speakers, no matter what level you are.

I believe that any reason for not learning Spanish can be overcome. I also believe in a holistic way of teaching the Spanish language, and that anybody can learn Spanish - and have fun at the same time! Have I convinced you yet?! In my references you can see the great feedback I receive from my clients about how the teaching and mentoring they received from me helped them with their studies.
